About UBA Foundation
United Bank for Africa (UBA) PLC, Africa’s global bank, is committed to being a socially responsible company and role model for all businesses in Africa. As the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the UBA Group, UBA Foundation is committed to the socio-economic betterment of the communities in which the bank operates, focusing on development in the areas of Education, Environment, Economic Empowerment and Special Projects. The UBA Foundation was incorporated in January 2004.
Giving Back, Touching Lives
UBA Foundation was created in January 2004 and is committed to bettering the communities in which the Group operates, making a positive difference across sectors and geographies.
As one of Africa’s largest financial services institutions, we recognise the need for a social contract between the Group, the community and its people. Our focus is on funding initiatives and programs that drive social improvement, educational advancement and environmental sustainability.
Education
The Read Africa program and National Essay Competition are geared at stimulating the quest for sound knowledge and arming educational institutions with support and resources to meet various learning needs.
Empowerment
UBA Foundation sponsors several skills acquisition workshops, social, tech and agriculture entrepreneurship forums that promote innovation and advancement on the continent.
Environment
By signing on to the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Statement, we have pledged our commitment to improving the environment and promoting sustainable development.

At UBA Foundation – UBA’s Corporate Social Responsibility Arm – our commitment to Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) principles underscores our dedication to fostering sustainable growth and positive impact. We prioritise Environmental stewardship through initiatives that champion reforestation and eco-friendly practices. Socially, we aim to uplift communities by advancing education, healthcare, and inclusive growth. COVID-19 Community Aid Package in Action
UBA Foundation joins the battle against COVID-19 by donating $14 Million to 20 African Countries. As one of Africa’s largest financial services institution, we recognise the need for a social contract between the bank, the community and its people. To this end, UBA became the first bank in Nigeria to institute a Foundation — UBAF as the CSR arm of UBA.
